                  First one arrived -- it was defectively built -- the brackets at the bottom were welded at an angle that didn't provide enough space for the ladder to slide. Called Overton's -- they immediately sent a replacement. The second one had exactly the same problem. Quality control at the manufacturer must be non-existent. Now, I'm going to try a different model.Kudos, though, to Overton's and their staff. [...]

                    What is the length of the ladder before the ladder is dropped and what is it after you drop the ladder into the water? I am dealing with high and low tides. I don't know what length ladder will fit my needs.

                      2' from the top of the dock down "before the ladder is dropped", 4' from the top of the dock down "after you drop the ladder into the water".
