Designed as a close-range defense weapon for trench fighting, the M1 Carbine has been used by militaries around the world. The M1 Carbine uses a bolt system that is very similar to that of the standard M1 rifle and a lightweight tappet-and-slide gas system. During World War II, many outside companies were contracted to produce M1's for the US government, including Inland Manufacturing, a division of General Motors.
This historical firearm is one of only 140,000 M1A1 Paratrooper Carbines made. The rifle has a flip-up peep rear sight, no bayonet lug, a folding wire buttstock, and a great patina. The carbine has an Inland Mfg. Div. 5-44 date stamp and P proofmark on the barrel. The rifle also has a crossed cannons inspector's cartouche visible on the stock. The carbine is in NRA excellent condition and comes with a military olive drab 1" web sling.
