Designed as a close-range defense weapon for trench fighting, the M1 Carbine has been used by militaries around the world. The M1 Carbine uses a bolt system that is very similar to that of the standard M1 rifle and a lightweight tappet-and-slide gas system. During World War II, many outside companies were contracted to produce M1's for the US government, including Inland Manufacturing, a division of General Motors.
This historical firearm has a Type 3 adjustable rear sight, a bayonet lug, and a great patina. The carbine has an Inland Mfg. Div. undated stamp and a P proofmark on the barrel. The rifle also has an IO S.E. Overton manufacturer stamp, a circle P proofmark, and a crossed cannons inspector's cartouche all visible on the stock. The rear sight is milled and has a PI Packard Mfg stamp. The carbine is in NRA fine condition and comes with a military olive drab 1" web sling.
