The Ice 45 features automatic depth range setting, 25-step gain, 10-step interference rejection, and battery status indicator. The large knobs are easy to use with gloves. Backlit keypad and LCD are easily seen in dark conditions. Rugged shuttle mount with built-in gimbal bracket. Includes 7 AH battery with charger. 1600 watts peak-to-peak power. Well, I actually bought the Ice 35. Comparing the ice 35 to the prices of the vex and marc's you get way more features! The gain was great, I was able to see all the baitfish swimming around up top and distinguish them from the walleyes a few feet lower.

First impression: Less money. More features than competitors.

I had purchased two Humminbirds! "One Ice 55, and one Ice 45) The first one had parts missing and looked like a store return item. After a half hour of assembly time, the 2nd one wouldn't light up (flasher part) When you switched from 19 degree to 9 degree, the unit would freeze up and also when you went to battery check it would freeze up and you would have to disconnect the battery wire and start it all over again. I emailed Humminbird and wrote a letter and to this day have not received a reply. Poor public relations as well as poor product. The only good thing about it is Gander Mountain gave me a full refund. They were great people to deal with.

    Great product for the money in terms of features and they all function the way they are advertised. I chose this over the other brands for the updated technology and capabilities of it that you would pay a lot more for on other brands. The lcd screen is great at night, and also the ducer screen is easily visible during the bright days outside. Auto bottom lock is nice too. Works Great!

    Both my fishing buddy and I purchased the Ice 45 last year for ice fishing. We used the units all last winter two to three days a week. We both couldn't be happier. We had no problems with either unit and found the units real simple to run. Even my eight year old grandson loved using the unit. Most of our fishing was in 5 to 22 feet of water, we had no problem seeing even small lures and fish. I would like to see a arm made available to hold the cord like the Vex and Marcum have. If you want a simple unit to operate, Buy one!

        I got the ice 45 for Christmas used it 9 times then it stoped working. I exchanged it for a new one and the first time out fishing this one broke also. Do not buy a humminbird for ice fishing.

            Hi Jim. There is no comparison between the Humminbirds and the Fl-18s! If you read my review on the Humminbird Ice flashers, you will understand why. I now have two FL-18s! I so wanted to try a Humminbird as all the material I had read sure made them sound like a sweet machine. You really get a sick feeling when you kick out between $700 to $800 dollars and you come up empty. I have owned most all quality units on the market including the Lowrance 522C iGPS Ice Machine, Marcum LX-5, Marcum LX-3 and a number of different Vexilars. There is not a doubt in my mind that Vexilar probably makes the most durable and easy to operate flasher on the market. The quality of the FL-18 is second to none. The kicker on top of getting a bad product is the fact that Humminbird doesn't bother to call or email and apologize or attempt to make it right with you or give some sort of explanation as to why all the problems.
