Comments about Humminbird® ICE 55 Color Flasher:
After doing a fair amount of research online, and checking prices, this one seemed to be the best of the best for quality and bang for your buck. I played around with it a little bit, but will put this flasher to the test over the next little while!

Comments about Humminbird® ICE 55 Color Flasher:
The ICE-55 is the best flasher on the ice. Very clear screen and the line color is awsome. Detects fish accurately. Fish can't hide! My fishing buddies can't keep their eyes of my Ice-55.

Comments about Humminbird® ICE 55 Color Flasher:
Greatest flasher...PERIOD! This guy has it all, 6 colors, 2400 WATTS of power, Zoom anywhere in the water column, target line, and a smooth face that doesn't collect snow like the competition. The #1 feature is the six colors. If you use the gain so your lure is just a faint return, you can easily tell the size of the fish eyeing your lure. On my local lake, yellow is a bluegill, orange is a rainbow, and channel cats are always red. Comes in real handy when fishing suspended bluegills when some cats are trying to sneak through on the bottom.

Comments about Humminbird® ICE 55 Color Flasher:
to put it in a nutshell i have returned mine now gong to be for the third time. product works good for awhile then it seems i have to have gain turned all the way up to pick on my jig, and then by then the whole screen is green so it defeats the purpose. their customer service has been great, but not god enough to just give me my money back. i wouldnt waste [$] on this, get a vexilar it is a proven product, should of never got rid of my fl8

Comments about Humminbird® ICE 55 Color Flasher:
This is a long read, but if you are looking to spend $500 on a flasher it is well worth a couple minutes of your time.
I have owned this unit for three seasons now and it has been a fair product at best. I'm not sure where these 5 star ratings are coming from...
PROS:
The ICE series flashers have the best user interface of all the ice flashers out there. The large backlit LCD screen and digital depth readout is awesome. The auto depth feature works great.
CONS:
The object separation is not very good... especially in water over 25ft. It is hard to see your bait at times and constantly need to be adjusted. As for the transducer support cable, throw it away immediately. If it isn't adjusted right it holds your transducer at an angle so it points off into no mans land.
The deal breaker...
I ended up breaking the top knob (gain knob) on my flasher and it was out of warranty, so I wanted to fix it myself. So I opened it up and found it was a simple fix. It was a broken potentiometer (a $5 part), so this $5 part, a soldering iron, and 30min would fix this...I contacted Humminbird support to get this part and it turns out that this $5 potentiometer is an "in house only part" so they will not send it to me. The only way to fix it is to send it to Humminbird, and there is a minimum charge of $110.95 if you send in any Humminbird product to get fixed. No way of getting around this, believe me I tried. So I tried to find the part myself and it turns out that it was specially made for Humminbird and they won't sell it to third parties.
I'm trying not to sound to bitter about this product, but even if I had not broke the knob off and didn't have to deal with there poor customer service, I would still have to (highly) recommended a different flasher. They have nicest screen, but when it comes down to graphing/plotting fish the FL-20 (any of the FL series for that matter) beats it hands down.

Comments about Humminbird® ICE 55 Color Flasher:
I have the ice 45 and its a Solid unit. The bars are nice and big easy to read. The back lighting is awesome. But with that said I also feel the bar separation is not a defined as other brands of flashers. Very easy to use and love the battery indicator, two cone width settings and the zoom.
