I've used this ammo for three years hunting whitetail deer in Michigan. Both of these calibers have worked well and cycle easily through my Marlin 336XLR and 1895GS. I've made 200 yd shots with the .30-30 and dropped deer where they stood. Bullets always passed completely through... expanding well and creating a lethal wound channel. The powerful .45-70 is my favorite. With my 1895GS sighted in for 3" high at 100 yards, I can hold point of aim out to almost 200 yds. It really puts a deer down. One specific instance comes to mind about a very big doe I harvested at 70 yds. At the instant of the shot, I saw four hooves in the air. She was "dead right there" (DRT). My brother reached the kill sight first and, due to all the blood on the ground, made the comment "It looks like mass carnage." When we dressed her out we found the bullet had hit a rib just behind the front left shoulder, expanded, destroyed the heart and lung area, and exited the opposite side after creating an exit hole the size of a softball. I would trust this ammo on all north american big game with the exception of the big bears we have here in Alaska. For them, I'd select ammo with a tougher bullet such as that sold by Cor-Bon or Garrett. For the reasons stated above, I give this ammo five stars... it deserves it.

will not chamber properly in a brand new marlin 1895 gbl. did shoot well with a lot of punch, but could only shoot one at a time, hand feeding each round. the rifle works flawless with any other round i tried I tried six different brands all together.only the hornady malfunctioned. do not buy this for your lever guns, especially the 1895gbl marlin. I found the federal works the best for the price, unless u want to pay the price for the buffalo bore.

This Is Just A Fantastic Round, About Time They Came Out With Something Like This. Drops Whitetails Where They Stand, Walk Maybe 10-15 Feet. Worked Perfect In My Model 1895 Marlin, See No Problems With It In Older Rifles. Turned My 45-70 Into A Tack Driver, Would Love To Use It On Chucks. Excellent Buy, Hands Down!!

i would recommend this to a friend or to a family member or to anyone thats shoping where im shoping at and if they ask what ammo that i recommend i would recommend this ammo all the way even if it is kinda pricey.the only reason i would recommend this ammo is because its a really good brand of ammo.
