Comments about Hornady .44/.50-Caliber XTP Sabot Bullet, 20-pack:
Killed two bucks and a doe so far with these sabots from Hornady. All dropped in their tracks and never moved. Want smack down killing power, these are the 50 cal sabots to use. I am definitely sold on them.

Comments about Hornady .44/.50-Caliber XTP Sabot Bullet, 20-pack:
ok, so i havent had these long enough to give them a too detailed review. using them out of my CVA optima, i decided to use 2 50grain pellets of pyrodex. at 50 yards my patterns are within 2". at 100 im within 6". im not too happy with that, but i have not played around with different grain combo's(i want to get 30 grain pellets so i can try different loads in 10 grain increments.) that said, i took down a decent size dow in early muzzleloader season here in PA at 40 yards. missed ribs on entrance side, went through the lungs and exited through a rib and the shoulder blade. it didnt slow it down. huge exit wound.
based on other reviews, im sure i will be able to get a better pattern out of this bullet. its silly to weigh too much on reviews for bullets. each gun is going to be different, each load is going to be different. my plan is to try different loads with this bullet, and if i cant get it down to a 2" group at 100 yards, ill try different primers. and if that fails, ill try a different bullet with all of the different loads, and then primers...
there is no bullet that is going to be accurate with every load. you need to find what is right for your gun.

Comments about Hornady .44/.50-Caliber XTP Sabot Bullet, 20-pack:
Nothing out there is better than a XTP. The shock it tranfers is unreal. Deer drop like they were struck by lighting. 21 in a row have not taken another step. They may kick a little when the go down but they never get back up. Sometimes I think I've missed because they go down so fast. I use a 300 gr XTP over 105 gr of ffg 777, that works best in my gun and is a real thumper on deer. Last bullet I recovered was a perfect mushroom and weighed 292 gr. You can't ask for much better than that.

A:
No, they won't work. The bullet size is 44 cal, but the sabot/swag is designed to fit into a 50 cal muzzleloaderAnswered on 10/27/2009 by Jim C from yardley, PA
