I shot a nice buck at 250+ yards this year and the deer dropped. I would of never believed you could have killed a deer with a shotgun at this distance. I don't even use my muzzleloader anymore because it is as accurate and easier to clean. I'm shooting them out of a Remington SP thumbhole stock 870. DEADLY COMBO!!!!

Was extremely excited for this product, have had great success with Hornady rifle ammo. Ran 2 boxes through a Remington 870 12 gauge-Hastings fully rifled barrel w/rifle sights, the ten were all over the target. Still gave a 3 because a friend of mine shoots sub 2" groups with these slugs at 50 yds with a fully rifled Browning BPS with rifle sights.
These slugs are great if you can group them, but be prepared to be disappointed as well.

Comments about Hornady 12 Gauge SST Shotgun Slugs:
I have used these slugs for 4 years with my mosburg and it is one shoot one kill out to 200yds wouldn't used anything else. This past week shoot a 9 pointer at 116yds though brush and he only went 30yds. Again the best slug for the money.

Comments about Hornady 12 Gauge SST Shotgun Slugs:
i shot a deer through two sets of brush at 85 yards and the deer dropped before it even knew what happened. the shells are a bit pricey but then again no one is shooting at squirrels with these sabots either.

Comments about Hornady 12 Gauge SST Shotgun Slugs:
i have been using this slug for about 3 years in my 870. groups were not grea (but better than the old pumpkins) and i havent gotten a shot at anything live since i hunt mostly rifle areas. this year i bought a mossberg 835 with cant scope barrel 12 shots got me a bullseye at 50 yds. the 13th shot i killed a coyote at 374 yds. :o range finder verified. they are amazing but make sure they group well in your gun before going nuts.

Comments about Hornady 12 Gauge SST Shotgun Slugs:
FOR THOSE OF YOU HAVEING TROUBLE WITH GROUP SIZES, IT IS MOST LIKELY DUE TO SABOT RESIDUE BUILD UP IN FRONT OF THE CHAMBER.THE SABOT WILL MELT AND FILL THE RIFLING JUST AHEAD OF THE CHAMBER. YOU CAN NOT REMOVE THIS BY NORMAL CLEANING. YOU MUST USE A FOAM CLEANER TO DISSOLVE THIS RESIDUE . YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT THE DIFFERENCE. MY SHOTGUN WILL GO ABOUT 15 ROUNDS BEFORE THE GROUPS START OPENING UP.

Comments about Hornady 12 Gauge SST Shotgun Slugs:
After each shot, my Browning BPS with a Browning rifled cantilever barrel was unable to eject the shell. It jammed so bad I had to remove the barrel via a two man tog-o-war after each shot. The brass swells enough to lodge in the chamber and the extractor cannor remove it. Tried two differnt lots with same result. Browning says they have had similiar complaints. I am nowshooting Federal Barnes expander and they work fine.

Q:
Can you shoot a 2.75" slug from a 3" rifled shotgun? If so what are the drawbacks? If not, Why?Asked on 5/24/2010 by Anonymous3 answers
A:
yes as long as it shorter like u cant shoot a 3 inch from a 2 3/4 inch gunAnswered on 9/15/2010 by john from carlton,miA:
yes, it will not effect the accuracy at all, i shoot sabots out of my mossberg 535 which has a 3.5 inch chamber and it causes no problems at all, the only thing that matters about the chamber size is the ability to shoot larger shells.Answered on 5/16/2012 by matt from marine city MIA:
Yes you can. The round needs to be a Sabot. Hornady SST are the rounds that I use with my Mossberg 500 and I am grouping under 2" @ 100 yards. I am confident that I could kill a deer with this round up to and including 175 yards. The only draw backs to using a 2.75" compared to a 3" are that you dont get the same velocity as you would with a 3", the projectile is sometimes smaller in weight, and you dont have the range that a 3" gives you.Answered on 9/7/2012 by Bk187 from Mukwonago, WI
Q:
how far does it shoot with a 12 gadgeAsked on 12/1/2009 by billy from glen daniel, WV3 answers
A:
They group well to 100 yards in my gun, but every barrel is different. You really have to shot them.Answered on 12/11/2009 by Dave from Pittsburgh, PAA:
from experience I have killed a good sized deer at 227 yds with one shot and slug went strait through.Answered on 12/25/2009 by mp_usmc_k9 from Knox Co ILA:
You are a horrible speller. It shoots up to 200 yards.Answered on 3/26/2010 by Nick from Detriot
