Comments about Hodgdon Pyrodex P Pistol Powder:
I've used this product since they started selling
it. Have never had a problem with ignition or
corrosion. Used in both rifle and cap and ball
pistol
Pros
Cons
- More corrosive than BP
Best Uses
Comments about Hodgdon Pyrodex P Pistol Powder:
Very corrosive even when compared to real black powder. Its a little more powerful than Goex and less so when compared to Swiss 3F. The two best attributes of this powder is 1. Availability and 2. Its dirt cheap when compared to better powders. "P" will get the job done I just prefer other powders but would use it if the need arose.
- Was this a gift?:
- No
Pros
- Cleaner than FFF BP
- Good Value
Cons
Best Uses
- Medium game
- Pest Control
- Target Practice
Comments about Hodgdon Pyrodex P Pistol Powder:
Cleaner and harder hitting than blackpowder. No. 11 caps set it off just fine. Does'nt foul my 58 Remington like FFF. Can shoot longer before cleaning. More shots per pound too. It's a keeper.
Pros
- Easy clean up
- Good Value
Cons
Best Uses
- Cowboy Action loads
Comments about Hodgdon Pyrodex P Pistol Powder:
I use Pyro P in my small bore muzzle loaders as well as cartridge loads. Easy to measure, good accuracy and much softer fouling than with black powder.

That is one of the manufacture best selling points, the fact this item has a different formula (especially for pistols) that helps preserve the life and also not fouling it up.Answered on 12/2/2008 by Spencer from Gander MountainA:
