Great for home protection or casual target shooting.

The only thing is it is heavy (35oz).

Good for PLINKING! DO not trust your life with this thing. The warranty (lifetime) IS AMAZING! I suppose its worth it, just don't trust your life with these things. They are very finicky and hollow points always jam with the strait unmodified versions...Any modifications or cleaning are a real hassle...I actually say put something better on LAY AWAY than these things...JUST TOO MANY "WHAT IFs" Good really for just playing and plinking. If you only make a couple hundred bucks a month I (guess) its good. It will shoot and the lifetime warranty is great...Thats about it..It is what it is..At least its made in USA i guess...but very very ugly literally and figurativly

Comments about Hi-Point Model 40 Handgun:

The gun worked great the first time I used it at a range. Had not fired a weapon in over 30 years and was hitting the target.
It does have a noticable kick but I was able to recover and rapid fire it and still hit the target.

      Great Gun

      Cons

Comments about Hi-Point Model 40 Handgun:

I've shot over 1000 rounds through mine and I've had maybe 10 jams with it. Gun is easy to disassemble and clean and is very accurate. I enjoy shooting this gun much more than my 9mm Glock or my .45 Beretta. I think the gun has a simplistic beauty to it and for home defense or tactical situations a solid black gun with a matte finish will not give away your position.

hipoint arms are the best for the price, the warranty, and its a us made and sold company i have the .380 and 40s&w and i cant wait for the new 40s&w carbine. Since a lot of places overcharge just to make a lil profit,my advise is to go to your local gun store and get them to order you one, maybe cheaper than what hipoint says there worth.i got my 40s&w threw my local gun store and payed [$] and hipoint says [$]theirs your singe,,,lol www.hi-pointfirearms.com

Hi Point does make some magazines that hold more shells you
will need to check out the accessories for the type and amount
you can get for this gun.

        • Q:

is this gun semi-auto or double acton
Asked on 1/10/2010 by Kozah from clombus

          1 answer

          • A:

It is both semi-auto and double action.

A semi-auto is double action when the hammer, or in this case striker, can be cocked by pulling the trigger. The act of racking the slide does not prime this weapon. It is cocked by pulling the trigger.

Edit: the word filter is a little extreme here.
