Product Description
hr_1871_inc When maneuverability, carrying ease and venison steaks are the order of the day, H&R's Ultra Light Slug Hunter with a portable 5-1/2 lb. frame, delivers outstanding, long-range accuracy. The Ultra Light Slug is unfailingly dependable, easy to carry, and exceptionally accurate out to the farthest reaches of shotgun range. Its 24" barrel features Ultragon Rifling, which uses six oval lands and grooves without sharp corners like traditional rifling to stabilize spin without distorting the sabot jacket or exterior of the slug, leading to a better gas seal, higher velocities, and more consistent flight characteristics. The pistol-grip stock has a Monte Carlo comb and sling swivel studs installed.

Firing pin is not aligned with center of primer, therefore it miss fires frequently. After repair the first box of 5 Accutips failed to fire even once. Federals , 2 out of 5 failed to fire . Gun sent back to gunsmith in Ill. , over 6 weeks later still not fixed. Told it had just been sent back to factory in New York . Called them and after a long phone call they managed to find it and said they were waiting for a part and it would be 5 more weeks . Reliable ? ??, I don't think so !!!

    Comments about H&R 1871 Inc H&R® Ultra Slug Hunter Single-Shot 12-Gauge Shotgun:

I bought this gun on sale at Gander Mountain, after my lease went shotgun only. When I got it home I slapped on a Nikon Slughunter and hit the range. A few boxes of Hornady SST later, and I was on paper and punching clover-leaf groups at 60 yards.

It has some recoil (and mine is in 20 gauge), but I will take that trade for how light it is to carry in the field. Next week is gun season down here, and I am looking forward to trying it out on moving targets.

      Comments about H&R 1871 Inc H&R® Ultra Slug Hunter Single-Shot 12-Gauge Shotgun:

Try several brands of slugs at the range. Mine did the best with KO slugs, and not sabots. I dropped a 220 pound 10 point at 75 yards. This gun rocks.

          Comments about H&R 1871 Inc H&R® Ultra Slug Hunter Single-Shot 12-Gauge Shotgun:

I hunt and I bought the deluxe version of this. I will never buy another deer slug gun again This is my one and only and will never veer from it. It is perfect it every way. . Very accurate. I had put down deer up to 120 yards with no problem. I probably could go further if the terrain allows. You will not be disappointed

I absolutely love this gun. It's light weight and very easy to handle. Awesome power. I hunt the wild
life management areas where I have to use a muzzleloader or slug gun. I also canoe hunt with this gun. I WOULD buy another gun like this, if need be. It does have a kick, but, I like it..:)

You will be satisfied with the gun.
