Product Description
hr_1871_inc H&R's Sporster is a sleek, handy rimfire that's making a big impact on varmints and small game nationwide. Chambered for the hot 17HMR, it launches a 17-grain projectile at 2500 fps, that is 25% faster than a 22 Win. Mag. and does it with trademark pinpoint accuracy. This rifle's 22" heavy varmint barrel cools quickly for exceptional shot-to-shot consistency. And, it's built on the field-proven break action that comes complete with a scope mount. The stock and fore-end are high-density black polymer, with a recoil pad and sling swivel studs. Heavy blued barrel on a synthetic stock.

Comments about H&R 1871 Inc H&R Sportster 17 Rimfire Rifle:

Amazing rifle. After sighting in my scope, I was shooting dime size groups at 100 yrd with ease. One of the most reliable rifles I own. The .17 HMR pack a punch for their size.

Only downfall is the barrel heats up quickly and the gun itself weighs 7 lbs without any accessories.

Comments about H&R 1871 Inc H&R Sportster 17 Rimfire Rifle:

If you want a 17 HMR and money is an issue (it always is) you CANNOT go wrong with this gun! It's simple and reliable. I have never had a jam or misfire, and the accuracy is quite good! 1 inch groups and smaller are common at 100 yards (optics are always a factor, remember!) with the average being around 1.1 inches (experiment with ammo!). It is a single shot and you will not burn through ammo quickly! It also forces you to make the one shot you have count! The only problem I have had is the barrel heats up affecting accuracy after about three shots (not a problem semi-autos have). Other than that it's simply the best single shot out there for the price.
