Comments about H M E HME Products 4:1 Gambrel:
I have 3 of these. They work great for raising game, not so good for lowering. As you stop lifting and release the tention on the rope it locks by pinching the rope in the locking lever causing it to raise up into the locked position. The problem is when you want to lower it you must pull down on the rope (the same as when you raised it). The lock lever comes down and is supposed to release the rope. The problem is the rope becomes pinched in the lever so tight when you originally raised it that it won't come back out when you are trying to lower it. It keeps re-locking itself. I just tie the rope off and dont use the lock

The gambrel itself is heavy duty, but the nylon rope is cheap and hard to work with.

Comments about H M E HME Products 4:1 Gambrel:
This is an excellent product to use for after the shot care of your deer. You can easily hoist the deer for hang time and adjust the height as needed for processing.
