Great hiking boot. I live in Florida but was headed to Washington DC between Christmas and New Years. I was planning for cold, rain, and maybe snow so I bought these boots. Wore them four days in a row walking around museums, walking around the national mall to see all the memorials, basically all around town (to and from the hotel and all the subway stations in between all the sights). I easily walked 4-8 miles a day in these boots and I'd had zero break in time wearing them before the trip. I had no blisters at all and my feet were never cold. Even when the rest of me was cold, my feet were warm. I can't say about the effectiveness of being waterproof because we were lucky enough that it didn't rain or snow. The boot fit true to size, however it was a little hard on the inside. After the first day, I removed the insole and replaced it with a more cushioned insole. It was better after that. I would still recommend these to anyone looking for a good, warm walking boot.

I've been hiking a long time. My lasts boots wore out and I needed something for light hiking ASAP. So I went with these..wrong choice! After a day of trails with my kids my knee down to me feet are in horrible shape. The laces and to unveil would not stay tight causing a lot of slippage and extra wear on my body. Unless you are doing short hikes on pavement or easy trails stay away. This boot was able to SLIP off my swollen foot after being tied as tight as we could get it 5 minutes before.

I use these hiking boots to do just that, hike. Great all around walking and working boot also. They are very comfy inside and warm. Thick tongue makes it soft and comfortable.

Comments about Guide Series Gander Mountain Womens Trail Climber Waterproof Mid Hiking Boot:

These boots were comfortable right out of the box with virtually no break in. My first hike with these found us slogging through some heavy mud and puddles on part of the trail. My feet stayed nice and dry throughout. I had to use a hose and scrub brush to get them clean, but the insides stayed dry and the outside dried completely overnight. I am very happy with the boots and look forward to more time on the trail with them.
