Works Great
Worked great. Easy to use, easy to clean. With the large capacity, it is a little on the bulky side. Unlike other complaints, the machine was quiet.

My husband is a hunter and I like to garden and seek out local produce while in season. He bought me this dehydrator so I can process herbs, fruits, vegetables and meats.
Unfortunately there are basically NO instructions that come with the dehydrator. The guidebook generally just tells you how the clean the appliance before using.
The sticker on the top says, "Drying Times"... Herbs and Grains 115 minutes, Vegetables 120 minutes, Fruits 135 minutes and Meat, Fish and Jerkey 150 minutes. That is not enough time to dry any of these products. I believe the sticker is actually indicating "Drying Temperatures" not times.
There are not instructions for the approximate amount of drying TIMES for any of these foods. Also while it was advertised as being able to add more shelves, there appears to be no way to actually purchase these shelves.
I would not recommend this to a friend due to the lack of directions and mislabeled directions attached as a label on the machine. It is frustrating.

Comments about Guide Series Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator:
I was very excited to get home today and try out this machine with some salmon my buddy caught. I prepped the fish-turned the machine on high and it was loud-very loud for about 5 minutes and then it stopped. I waited a few minuted for it to cool down because it was hot. When i turned it on it slowly puttered out. Now Im using my oven to dry all this prepped fish. What a pain.

Comments about Guide Series Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator:
I purchased the Guide Series Dehydrator on sale after weeks of research and I am very pleased with it.
I will tell you some of the specs since the box and internet sites are vague. This model can actually hold 10 trays but it only comes with 5. Additional trays can be purchased at Gander or the manufacture's(LEM's)web site and range from $4.95 to $9.99 each. Plastic webbed sheets can be purchased from LEM's web site too.
The temp gauge is from 90-165 degrees. There is a simple on/off toggle switch and it is 800 Watt. The fan in the back and heating element are larger and it is 1 hp. However, to my surprise, this unit is whisper quiet (not even a slight rattle)!
The unit is solid stainless steel including the door, racks, brackets, handles on the top of the unit ect. making this a great value that will last. Most of the others dehydrators are all plastic.
This unit is on sale and being replaced by a new one that includes a timer and the additional racks but I couldn't justify the cost. I use a simple light timer on mine which works well and is inexpensive and to buy the racks and ship is approximately $32.00.
We made apple chips in it last night which came out perfect in 4.5 hours.

Comments about Guide Series Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator:
I have had this product for almost two years and have not had one issue with it. It's robust, consistent and very easy to clean. At a minimum I do a jerky run every weekend (sometimes twice a week when demand is high from family and friends) The quality of jerky you can produce yourself will be so much better than any you can buy in a store because you'll eventually come up with a recipe and process that totally suites you. While I have my eyes on something much larger, I have still not used this dehydrator's full capacity. I commonly jerky 5 pounds of beef in a run and the oven can handle up to 10 pounds. Five pounds takes 4.5 hours in this oven. That's 5 to 8 times faster than element dehydrators. The rear mounted fan is an excellent design. You can't go wrong with this oven. It's awesome!!!
