I had to cut the pinoak tree that was providing shade for our deck area, so we put up this canopy for comfort. The insect screen was a bonus, and it provides a nice shelter even in a light rain. And no more mess or leaves from the tree to clear each year. We have left it up all summer for several years now, and it is still in very good condition. I'd recommend it to anyone for this purpose.

The unit is great to keep you out of the sun. It has held up great for days in some moderate winds with gusts up to 30mph (make sure its staked down the the lines are tied down). The PROBLEM I have with it is the design is poor. I had it out camping and it was raining steadily and the roof does not properly displace the water off. Water built up instead of running off the edges and the frame buckled quickly. This unit is advertised to be used in rain yet this happens. If the frame was stronger and the roof was better supported this would not happen. For as heavy as this thing is you would think it would be a little stronger.

Comments about Guide Series™ Combo Canopy:
We have been asked by quite a few of the SnowBirds
in our RV Resort that we stayed at this year where we got out Canopy. It withstood the Colorado River High Winds for 24 hours, NO PROBLEM . We love it, way beyond our expectations.

Comments about Guide Series™ Combo Canopy:
The easy setup and take down made it great for Assateague State Park sudden winds and storms. Last summer my new, now old, screen room was demolished in a sudden storm. I got this in Salisbury MD. Best 20 mile i ever drove. I'm buying one for my kids to camp with

Comments about Guide Series™ Combo Canopy:
Must have two people to set up and take down. Used this camping eight times last year and it saved several of our camping trips. Saved us from the rain, protected us from the wind, and kept the mosquitos at bay. Stood strong while others were blowing away. The only thing I would add to it is better spikes for the wind panels, they came loose to easily. But overall a great product.

Comments about Guide Series™ Combo Canopy:
Not Durable; First time I used it, it rained and the top held water. We pushed the water off but we could not keep up and the frame gave out. We had two cheaper canopies up and we didn't have any problems with them.

I would like to know if you could leave this up all summer? how would it handle the sun? thanks.Asked on 3/30/2010 by guy k. from waukesha,wi.3 answers
A:
Ultraviolet rays are very powerful and can degrade waterproof material over time. This is the same with tents. I personally wouldn't leave this up all summer.Answered on 4/21/2010 by Driftwood from Pittsburgh PAA:
I use it for BBQ Competitions and for shelter when I cook at home. I have had it a year and the cover needs replaced due to rain and sun use. I think it is well worth the money and holds up well. the reason i need to replace it is from the heat coming up from the smoker and then sun and rain. Hope this helpsAnswered on 4/24/2010 by Bubba from Wichita, KsA:
We live in Fla. and have left it up all year round. Its been holding up great - the roof is just a bit faded. But now, 2 or so years after purchase, I am searching to find out if a replacement roof and screening will be available (its not ripped or anything - just thinking of the future)Answered on 6/1/2012 by Debbie & Chris from Loxahatchee, FL

This says water repellant....does it really keep out storm rain? thx.Asked on 7/23/2009 by Anonymous2 answers
A:
The canopy does keep out storm rain to an extent. The sides are mesh, so if the rain is coming at an angle it may go into the canopy. The top of the set-up does a great job at keeping alot of the water out, and overall it is quite amazing!Answered on 7/29/2009 by JFJSDLJFIDFJOW from LMIA:
Yes we just used it yesterday at a craft show and it was down pouring for about 1/2 hour. We put the sides on and did not get wet at all! The sun came out later on and it dried off completely!Answered on 8/9/2010 by kathleenmarianna from minnesota

A:
When the mesh sides are down there is a zipper on one side that acts as a door that can open so you can get in and out. However, you can also tie it back like in the pictureAnswered on 6/22/2009 by Paul from Gander Tech
Q:
What can you add to this product to tie it down from a strong wind? Leaving it up in our back yard and not being home to take it down. I like to leave it up through out the spring and summer.Asked on 6/7/2009 by Mike from Kernersville, NC1 answer

I went to my local hardware store and got some metal auger anchors that are used to keep large dogs leashed and on chains. We secured the anchors with racket tie straps. So far, we've had good luck with this method.Answered on 6/16/2009 by David from West Allis, WI
