Comments about Guide Series® Casting Rod, 7' 1-Piece Medium Heavy:
This is a great rod so far. Just bought it because it was on sale and was a stiff rod, which is what I like for baitcast. The ONLY dislike that I have about this rod is how thin the cork shaft is. It is just a PERSONAL PREFERENCE. Otherwise a great rod!!! If the cork shaft was thicker it would have got a 5 star rating.

Comments about Guide Series® Casting Rod, 7' 1-Piece Medium Heavy:
I bought this rod because I had heard around the lakes that GM's rod quality had improved, but this rod broke on my second trip using it. I had a 4+ pound large mouth on that was fighting great and the rod held up until the fish jumped near the boat. The rod just snapped from the pressure of the jump and broke in two pieces above the second eyelid. Of course I lost the bass because I couldn't reel it in.
If this is a sign of GM's rod improvement then I will never buy another GM rod. I have owned Cabela's, Shakespeare, Abu Garcia, Berkley, Shimano, & Daiwa rods and have never had one break like this.
