The coating saves the gelcoat in the anchor compartment. Caution: the coating adds thickness to all parts of the anchor, so if you have a tight storage space, it may be a challenge to store. Also be aware that the metal underneath is not galvanized, so keep and eye out for breaks in the coating and rust forming.

I purchased this item on price, and the assumption I made was the vinyl coating on this anchor could not hurt performance. I was wrong. I used this anchor in some medium wind, with a muddy bottom and 6 feet of chain and it would NOT hold my fairly light weight, 16 foot boat. I tried three times and dragged 3 for 3. I think the vinyl does something to the holding power, or the ability of the anchor to work as designed.

This anchor is terrible. Within a week the coating started to come off. It has now started to rust because the it isnt galvanized under the coating. Plus is doesnt hold well at all. I anchor on a sandy bottom and this product has be very disappointing.

This product ought to be taken off the market or redesigned. Obviously the people designing this product never tried to use it.
