This horned owl can be used to keep your boat and dock clean of bird residue. Birds that tend to fly around docks and boats like to relieve themselves on your dock and/or boat. With this owl, the birds will be less likely to come around and leave their mark. This own will also help to keep squirrels and other smaller animals from coming around and causing damage to your boat.

Very cute little owl BUT. After 3 days it didn't keep anything away. The squirrels were never afraid of it. A squirrel actually stopped, stood up and took a close look at it and then went on about its business. The geese are not around currently, but the ducks stayed "back" (but within eye site) for a day or so and after 3 days they are back sitting on our little boat ramp as usual within 10 feet of the owl. If you doubt me, I do have pictures. I will attach one.

Comments about Dalen Great Horned Owl With Moving Head:
Since the owl has been installed on our dock, the ducks swim by. We haven't seen any perched on the dock, to leave their mess behind!
The head moves slowly in the breeze, so really does look life-like.

Comments about Dalen Great Horned Owl With Moving Head:
I purchased 3 of the, what I call, "Bobble Head Owls" and have they been doing a great job. I put two of them at my lake house and they have been keeping the birds (and their leave behinds) away. I filled each up with sand and they sit on the ledge of my deck and guard the deck and furniture. We have had winds in excess of 45 MPH to date and they don't move (except their head of course). Additionally, I put one on my brick patio ledge at my full time home and it is providing the same level of great work. Besides keeping the birds off my patio area, they are keeping the rabbits away too. Its funny to see the rabbits standing around in the neighboring yards now, but not in mine. Again, I filled this one with sand and no wind will move the body, just the head. So realistic, especially the bobbing and rotating heads! Cool stuff.

Comments about Dalen Great Horned Owl With Moving Head:
I bought this owl for use in my garden against small varmints that were eatin' everything in sight. The owl has worked! The head swivels with the lightest breeze, looks lifelike. It has even brought crows in close enough for shooting. My dogs stood and barked at the owl the first couple of days, but this owl didnt fly away. Well worth the money, great value. I plan on giving my dad one for his garden.

VERIFIED BUYER
A:
I purchased a galvanized angle bracket and boled it to the bottom of the owl. Had to drill holes in the bottom, and it was a pain to install the washers and nuts thru the small opening in the bottom of the owl. I then attached the vertical part of the angle bracket to the back side of the post.Answered on 8/16/2011 by Bob from Greenville, SC

If you fill the owl with sand, it will not move. I have them sitting on a ledge on my deck and they have been tested over and over again in winds exceeding 50 MPH.Answered on 6/12/2012 by Lake Newc from Chicagoland & NW IllinoisA:
It will remain that because it is meant to be physically fastened to the surface.Answered on 10/20/2010 by Bryant from Tech
