          I have several automotive units and one built in. I purchased this unit primarily for marine navigation. Plugged in Garmin G2 Blue water sd card and I was on the water navigating all the channels and markers in the Gulf of Mexico

            [...]The ability to run Inland Lakes marine mapping in the Nuvi 500 is a huge crossover use bonus. One can use this unit to drive to your lake, then place it on the dash or on the bow and use the mapping with the addition of a LakeMaster or Garmin data card to keep you safe on the water as well. Other cards that operate in the Nuvi line are the NDTRAX, MTTRAX, and the MNTRAX data cards. This is a very useful tool kit for the hunter and all around sportsman as they show parks, refuges, WPA lands, Federal lands, lakes, marshlands, State hunting areas and much more. I highly recommend this product.From the road to the water or out ice fishing, this is a very solid and useful GPS utility. A great value on a tight budget for the sportsman.
