Good low cost headlamp. Provides area lighting for tasks around the campsite, reading, working with your tackle box, short walks, starting the generator. Doesn't throw a beam like the single-LED 1 watt and 3 watt lamps. The on/off mechanism is a simple twist, and I personally love the top strap which makes the lamp very stable on my head.
The battery polarity isn't marked on the removable battery holder, so you have to have faith that the end with the spring is the minus end, but other than that a good lower cost unit.

Headlamps are great, this one is okay. Mine started out pretty bright, but the three settings did not really change how bright it was. After use it started dimming, changed the batteries and it remained dim. Usually a fan of the guide series but there are definitely better headlamps out there for the same price

Comments about Gander Mountain Three-LED Headlamp:
Good light. Best is that it doesn't turn on by itself when in pocket or bag - reason for me buying it. Bought 2 and have been happy. However, I gave it only 4 stars because it doesn't make much difference if you use one LED or 2 or 3. Gives off about the same amount of light. Great light for using all season.

Comments about Gander Mountain Three-LED Headlamp:
I just came off the mountains of Colorado from an Elk Hunt (did not fill tag this year) the headlamp worked great in the tent and around camp after dark, worked as good if not better than some of the High Priced ones that were in camp. I like the top strap, keeps it in place better. I did not need to replace the batteries, lasted all week. Great light for the price, why spend more if not necessary. Used light on cap to walk back to camp almost every night, adjustment of light very easy and easy to turn on an off. I actually had a different and lots higher priced light in my basket when I found the Gander Mt. light display, after comparing the two I put the high price one up and bought the Gander Mt. LED Very Good Light for my hunting trip. I can also see a use fot this light around the house working on things, hands free.

Thank youAsked on 10/8/2009 by JenLo from WI1 answer
A:
I would assume (just my guesses), the 3 settings would be for how much light you require!
1 led – for hiking at night where you don’t need a mass amount of light, saves your batteries for longer periods. Also would save time for your eyes to adjust between lit areas and unlit areas, very helpful in the woods
2 led – where more light is required, maybe for safety, footing, and working under your car hood.
3 led – where the most light would be required, for detailed things, or maybe for distant line of sight!Answered on 12/26/2009 by Snipe44 from Buffalo, NY
Q:
does this run on batteries? if so what kind? or is it rechargable?Asked on 6/15/2009 by yim1 answer
A:
This runs on 3 AAA batteries, any of the common types will do. Alkaline, heavy duty, Nickel Metal Hydride, Lithium will all work. The unit itself doesn't have the ability to recharge the batteries, but you can use rechargeable batteries that you recharge outside the headlamp.Answered on 9/19/2009 by Rich from Minnesota
