Comments about Gander Mountain™ Meat Saw:

A very practical and useful hand meat saw in a shorter length that can be used for processing whole country hams, deer, and other forms of bulk meat. The saw is somewhat heavy, but this adds a little heft when trying to get through bone or other stubborn areas of the meat. Upon arrival, I was surprised at the nice quality and overall finish considering the reasonable price I had to pay. I was actually expecting a somewhat lesser quality considering the amount paid. I recommend always getting an extra blade or two when ordering a saw like this because after frequent use they will become a little dull. I am not sure in all other areas, but in ours, to reset the teeth and sharpen a blade, it costs more than the cost to purchase an extra new blade of this type.

Comments about Gander Mountain™ Meat Saw:

I thought that I would be able to easily cut the heads off the whitetails with this product but there was nothing easy about it. I don't know if they make a finer toothed blade for these but there was just too much blade grip to get the sawing motion going and if the deer swung just slightly while hung from a gambrel, it was impossible. I've put it on the back shelf with all the other tools I'll never use again....sorry!

How does this saw do when it comes to cutting bones? Is it suitable for cutting down the spine?

                  A:

I have cut through smaller bones fairly easy (with adequate force) but I have not personally used it cutting thick leg bones or the spine. All the reviews we have heard about it has been good, basically saying they've encountered no problems.

Yes you can cut down thru spine, and it cuts all bones of White tail deer size animals.Haven't tried it on any larger game but it should work. I am an avid Deer hunter, and the saw works well for me.
