The Guide Series #8 Electric Meat Grinder features a #8 neck size and a 1/2 HP motor, allowing you to grind 4-6 lbs. of meat per minute. It can grind 8 lbs of meat per minute by using the cutting plate with holes that measure 10mm. Set of three plastic stuffing tubes (3/8", 3/4", 1-1/8") let you make any size sausage. Features 2 stainless steel grinding plates in medium (3/16") and coarse (3/8"). Large-capacity meat tray with enlarged throat ensures optimal performance. Removable tray organizes your grinder accessories. Stainless steel stuffing plate, solid meat stomper, feed pan, and knife are included. ETL security and ETL sanitation listed. One-year warranty.

          My wife and I have been making traditional salami's, capicollo's and sausage for some time. We usually get our pork and have it ground at the store. The amount that we buy was large enough to allow us to ask that the meat manager pick up a bigger plate for his grinder as salami's take a bigger grind (3/8"-1/2"). He did so why buy a grinder? Because we also process our own deer every season and grind most of them up for deer salami and other ground goods. Having one puts the control of when I am going to do it in my hands without running out to the store and waiting on the butcher.
          About the grinder:
          We purchased a 1/2 hp #8 Guide Series. I could of went for the 3/4 hp #12 but didn't think we needed that much grinder and at 63 I didn't want to get into moving that much weight around the house.
          The purchase of the #8 was a great choice and it handled the 22 lbs of combined venison and pork butt with speed and efficiency. I only had one burp in the task. It popped the breaker twice (designated plug so no prob on not enough current), when a couple of pieces of chilled fat hit the auger. That being said: if your not in a rush and let the grinder do it's job it is more than enough to satisfy the average residential user. If you need something that you want to push and boast about then get the bigger one. Our usage is about 2 deer and 200 lbs of pork butts a year.

                I don't usually write reviews but after my second season of using this grinder I felt compelled. I am an an avid hunter and have used cheaper grinders in the past and it was always the grinding that I dreaded but after purchasing the guide series #8 I look forward to it. I just finished grinding 60+ lbs of venison and I didn't even have to use the plunger a single time to keep it fed. This machine rips through meat faster than you can feed it in with no bogging whatsoever. Unless you own a meat market I can't imagine why anyone would ever need more than this. Would definitely buy this again.

                  It grinds meat very well and easy to use. It does though tend to emulsify meat (pork) during the stuffing process. I don't know if it because it is so powerful or why. I did mix ice water through the meat after the grinding process with the spices.
