This machine is a great step up from manual grinding. The motor is quite powerfull and doesn't bog down like the smaller machines do. It chews through meat quickly and easily. It cleans up quickly if you have the right size kitchen brushes. The various grinding plates allow you to make all types of sausages and salami, as well as coarse chili grind or medium and fine hamburger grind.
I have not tried stuffing with it as I have a hand cranked sausage stuffer and prefer the extra control that it gives me for sausage making.

I have had clones of this machine and tossed them when they disinegrate. I bought this for the name and support. The finish on the metal components is quite poor. After less than a year there is no finish what-so-ever on the barrel, tray, screw, etc. [...]Just keep in mind that it has limitations.

Purchased this product for typical kitchen grinding - have used to grind chicken breasts and NY steak into amazing dinner items. Works well, no mess, easy to clean and only takes minutes from start to cleanup to make great patties and sausage.

Comments about Gander Mountain #12 .5HP Professional Electric Meat Grinder:
I have used 2 other grinder and they didn't cut it!! This grinder didn't bog down when grinding corse stringy meat. Ground meat was always the same tecture. Easy of assembly and clean up but not for the dishwasher as the luster will be lost. I plan to get years and years of good grinding ahead!!

Q:
How does the grinder work when adding pork fat to venison burger? Does it still grind through or does it clog?Asked on 12/8/2008 by New York Hunter from New York3 answers
A:
I've used this machine to produce some fine deer sausage by adding fat (pork) as you asked and it worked just fine. For the best results, mix the fat in initially by hand and then just run the mixture back through the grinder. I prefer to mix the meat with about 1 part fat to 4 parts meat plus a morning sausage seasoning. Gander also carries extra blades for your machine.Answered on 1/1/2009 by Drack from Middleburg FlA:
I just completed making 25 pounds of venison sausage and added 5# pork fat and a pound of hot chedder cheese with no clogging problems stuffing the casings.By Tom of MichiganAnswered on 1/6/2009 by Navyman from Owosso, MichiganA:
the grinder will do just fine just make sure it has no gristle in the fat, that is hard to cut with a sharp knife muchless trying to grind itAnswered on 1/6/2009 by old-bodyman from sulphur LA
