Comments about Frabill Refuge Cabin Style Shelter:
honestly I was blown away by the usability of this product. easy to break down/set up/transport! it's a little light though, so on windy days you might want to anchor it down some way. but it's a nice rig. I'm 5'6" and I can stand up and have almost 4 inches of room so height wise it's awesome unless you're taller. don't recommend drilling your holes inside the house though. plenty of room and a great buy!

Comments about Frabill Refuge Cabin Style Shelter:
Bought this on clearance, thnx gander mtn. Have 2 styles of fishing shelters and this is by far the easiest to set up. It is a little tight for 2 avg. adults with gear but managable. Found it easier to drill the holes first then move the shelter over them. Frabill is to cheap to supply ancors so u need to buy them, a must in windy conditions or there is no snow on the ice.

Comments about Frabill Refuge Cabin Style Shelter:
This unit works ok for weekend fishing however seems slightly small for two people. Very narrow without much room to move. The zippers seem like they are going to come apart every time you close the doors, but held up this whole season. Also, the unattached poles seem to want to fall out when transporting, should incorporate a system to securely stow them. The black color seems to create some solar heat on sunny days. At this point I think for the price it was money well spent.

Comments about Frabill Refuge Cabin Style Shelter:
Bought this to replace our Cabelas Ice shack kit. Pros: Easy to set up, four windows and two doors, and cell/gear pockets. Cons: Narrow build, difficult to drill inside with 10 inch auger, little to no space for heater between hole compartments. Bottom line: This house advertises 2-3 man.... no way in heck. This house will accomodate two small people or one person comfortably with room for heater and vexilar.

Q:
does this shanty have a sled with it and how do u fasten it down on to the ice? also is this available at the portage gander mountain for a quick pick upAsked on 1/3/2010 by bear from portage,mi1 answer
A:
This shelter folds in half like a suit case. It has a tow rope to pull it across the ice...but I recomend you only pull by hand. You can purchase ice anchors seperate, however I do not believe you need them as the weight of you and your gear will hold down the shelter in most conditions. Setting up the shelter; open up the shelter and remove the hole covers, shovel a place to set the base on the ice and mark the hole locations. Remove the base and drill the holes, place the shelter on the ice over the holes...then shovel the snow around the perimeter to help keep it in place and to keep the cold air out. I am sure the store will help with instructions too. These types of shelters are very easy to use, comfortable and ideal to slide out the bed of a pickup at your favorite fishing hole. Sorry, I know nothing about shipping and handling at Portage WI.Answered on 1/9/2010 by Oneshot from Wisconsin
