I ordered some of this when it was on sale because the price was too good to pass up. I tried and tried and my best group out of my custom ar-15 with it was 2.159 inches measured center to center with a digital caliper. Most groups averaged around 3 inches at 100 yards so it would be ok for plinking but with other ammo I shoot that isn't handloads I am getting 1/3 of an inch groups center to center out of my gun, with this ammo I even tried shooting 3 shot groups and couldn't do better then that the other groups were 6 shot and still measured 1/3 of an inch. Save your money and buy a little better ammo.

Comments about Federal Premium American Eagle .223 Remington Ammunition, 100-rounds:
No problems here. Ammo is fairly accurate for your basic 55gr 223. No failures to fire/feed/eject. The price wasn't exceptional, but it was acceptable with the current shortage.

Comments about Federal Premium American Eagle .223 Remington Ammunition, 100-rounds:
Used this ammo for a while now, with no problems in accuracy or FTF/FTE.
My biggest problem is Gander's price. Their sale price for this product is still higher than the regular price of other near-by stores by about $20-30.....

Q:
What is boat-tail?Asked on 4/5/2011 by Anonymous2 answers
A:
Its the shape of the actual bullet its self. It tapers off at the back end so it will fly better and its more arrow dynamic. It is supposed to make it more accurate at longer distance.Answered on 2/22/2012 by BIGN from Whiteland INA:
boat-tail refers to the shape of the bullet at the base thats the part inside the shell casing. With a boattail bullet there is a taper at that end giving the bullet a higher BC which is most easily put better aerodynamics so you get less resistance. This means you get less drop over a distance then a bullet that has straight walls down to the base.Answered on 4/5/2012 by hintz1987 from wisconsin rapids, wi
