I bought this ammo as it was on sale for $45 per 100 box, instead of the usual $60, for my Sig Sauer 516 that is a 5.56 nato rifle. I was advised by several persons at Gander that this American Eagle .223 would be just fine to fire using my weapon. I purchased 7 boxes, 700 rounds, of this ammo so I really hope that it will be okay with my Sig 5.56 as I plan on using it for the MSR course offered at Gander. I cannot give it an evaluation at this time as I have never fired the ammo through my Sig.

If I'm at the range killing paper silhouetts 75-80 ft indoors it's the best & all I need. It's also great for messing with those little critters out in the yard
Buy it, use it. If you have a need to go long range you already know what to use for the yardage, right!

Its the shape of the actual bullet its self. It tapers off at the back end so it will fly better and its more arrow dynamic. It is supposed to make it more accurate at longer distance.

boat-tail refers to the shape of the bullet at the base thats the part inside the shell casing. With a boattail bullet there is a taper at that end giving the bullet a higher BC which is most easily put better aerodynamics so you get less resistance. This means you get less drop over a distance then a bullet that has straight walls down to the base.
