Q:I am assuming that this is a 6 volt fuel gauge. I need to find out what does it read? I need it to read 0 ohms-empty and 30 ohms-full.
Please, let me know. Thanks.Asked on 9/11/2009 by John from Plano, TX
A:These gauges, as well as our other gauges. are designed to read full at 33ohms, and empty will typically read 240 ohms, as most senders send signals from 33-240 ohms.Answered on 9/14/2009 by Bob from Overton's Tech
A:I know that this gauge will provide a reading at those ohm ranges, but if you would like specific information or any information similar to this customer please call our technical department, so that we can work with you directly to make sure the products we provide will work with your application. Q:I have a 1996 Crownline 202 W/Faria guages fuel is erratic is there a test to know if its sender or guage?Asked on 7/25/2009 by DG from Clear Lake Ia
A:Most standard marine fuel senders come in two flavors, American and European. The American senders have a resistance range of 240 to 33 ohms (240 ohms empty, 33 ohms full). The European senders are 10 to 180 ohms (10 ohms empty, 180 ohms full).
It is possible your gauge has not moved because the fuel sender has not moved. This can occur if the fuel sender is poorly aligned and "maxes out" mechanically before the tank is full. Another possibility is that there is a short in the sender wires.
To test your gauge, remove the sender wire. The gauge will read full or empty. Then short the sender terminal of the gauge to ground, it should read the reverse.Answered on 11/12/2009 by OVERTON'S from TECHNICIAN
