Short Stroke Piston System Reduces Fouling
Cold Hammer-Forged, Free-Floating Barrel
3-Prong Flash Suppressor
Optical and Accessory Rails
Adjustable Polymer Stock
From the first pre-selection Special Forces Combat Assault Rifle tests in 2004, the SCAR system developed by FN Herstal has remained the first and only choice of USSOCOM. Completely ambidextrous, the FN Scar features a gas-operated, short stroke piston system to reduce fouling for greater reliability. It has a cold hammer-forged, fully free-floating barrel capped with a 3-prong flash suppressor. The receiver-integrated MIL-STD 1913 optical rail plus three accessory rails enable mounting of a wide variety of tactical lights and lasers. The side-folding polymer stock is fully adjustable for comb height and length of pull, while the reversible charging handle and an ambidextrous safety/firing selector and magazine release ensure that right- and left-handed shooters are comfortable handling the SCAR.
