This tent did work well. I used for my trip to the Pictured Rocks on Lake Superior, the Manitee River trail, and casual camping. The drawbacks to this particular tent is that it is extremely cramped. I'm 6'4" and it was quite difficult to position yourself and getting in and out of the tent. The quick release zipper on the tent roof was quite nice.
What really disappointed me with this tent is that Eureka does NOT make replacement poles for this tent. The front pole snapped on me while in the middle of a hike trip, which just lead to a miserable experience.
This tent did a good job of what was required of it. I wish Eureka would have the foresight to make replacement poles, but I guess that infringes on their ability to make a bigger profit of us suckers.

This tent is one of the best. Eagle Scout and US Marine tested. The tent took about 5 miniutes to setup the first time out of the box. I have experieced extreme rainfall while using this tent and it has held strong.

            • A:

This is not a free standing tent, it needs at least 4 pegs to stand. I have had this tent for a year and really like it but you do need to peg it out.

          • Q:

What is the floor material for this tent? Does it have a built-in footprint or does it have a fabric floor?
Asked on 5/7/2010 by Goopasaurus Rex from Germantown, WI

            1 answer

            • A:

It has a waterproof floor but it is thin, I use a tarp under it to protect it from rocks and stuff. A 6x8 tarp folded in half works perfect for a ground cloth.

          • Q:

From photo (as a novice camper) it is hard to discern how to enter this tent. Through the door or through the top with the zipper. Looking for a backpacking tent for my grandson to use on his outings with a scout troop in GA. Is there room for his backpack in there? He is a big boy at 5'6", 140 #, and only 13.

            • A:

The floor is 32 inches wide. I am 6'2" and weigh 210 lbs with pretty wide shoulders too. I fit in this tent easily and actually have enough room to roll over.

Does this also have a rain fly?

            • A:

They show it set up and not set up in the photographs. Its the yellow top, you can roll it back and tuck it in the bridge to remove it.
