Comments about Drake Waterfowl Drake EST DuraLite 1/4-Zip Pullover:
I bought this for a primary outer layer for early season duck and goose hunting, and had hopes for double-duty use as a mid-layer later in the season.
From the manufacturer's website (Drake):
SIZING NOTICE: This pullover is athletic cut and tends to run a size small. Please order one size larger than you normally wear.
Based on this, I ordered an XL rather than a L. I am 6'-1" and 225 LB, so XL is usually the way to go for me, but I will order a L for base layer garments. This description could not be any further from the truth - I am absolutely swimming in size XL - there is nothing "athletic" at all about the cut. There is so much fabric on the arms - I feel like I am wearing a parachute, and it is cut very big around the middle as well. I tried layering it under another windproof top as well as a jacket, and all that extra fabric in the arms just bunches up and is very uncomfortable.
Also, if you are over 6' tall, be cautious of the length. At 6-1 I barely have enough to tuck into my waistband. Raising/lowering my arms a few times like you would do when shooting pulls the shirt right out. Under waders, this would just bunch up right in your midsection. I wish they made a Tall sizing option for it - an extra 1-2" would solve the problem.
I wish they sold this in the store so I could try it on in a different size before exchanging. Now I have to decide whether to give up on it and just return it, or try and exchange it for a smaller (L) size.
Service and delivery comments:
