First time using these cleats, price is good. Quality seems to be good. Not enough time to tell if there are any defects. Thumbs up for now.

Comments about Dockmate Galvanized Dock Cleat, 10":

In setting my dock up for mooring and convenience for boat visitation from friends I labored over which cleat to use. If you must use the galvanized cleat you must use the 10" version. The standard rope for your dock should be 1/2" braided. This size will only fit the 10" cleat. The opening for the smaller cleats requires a smaller diameter rope. In addition, mounting the cleat to the dock required rocket scientry. To through bolt it as it is meant to be mounted requires an "L" bracket through bolted to the outer 2"x12" with the "L" upside down to enable a mounting point for the cleat. This requires 4 bolts, nuts, washers and the "L" bracket for each cleat. One local marina uses these cleats and simply secured them with a Phillips head tapered head lag screw driven into the 2"x12" mounted directly on the edge of the dock. The afore mentioned method dictates the cleat be mounted 4" from the edge. Possible chaffing could ensue. The better choice IMO and in use at many marinas in my area including a marina at a State Park which was built by TWRA is the "Dockmate Alluminum "S" Dock Cleat." This cleat is much more expensive but is a no brainer to install and use and is much more forgiving in regard to the size rope being employed by the owner. The "S" cleat is alluminum but I did not see any broken ones lingering at the docks I witnessed using this cleat testifying to its endurance.
