The key to this product is to measure the distance between the cleats on your boat and secure the 2 bases the same distance apart. Kept my 17' boat from banging against the pier with very rough water. Worth the price.

I have the 8' premium whips for my 18' Monterey FS. It is mounted on a floating dock in a cove that gets used quite a bit. I hated seeing my boat rock and roll against the fenders whenever a wakeboarder came by. The whips do hold it away from the dock although it will still rub the fenders every now and then, but it is MUCH better now.The instructions on hooking up the lines and tensioners need better photos, not line drawings. I have only had them installed for a week, so we will see.

The metal piece that makes the loops off the whip does not hold the loop very well. After a slight adjustment it now work great.

Comments about Dockmate Deluxe Mooring Whips, 8':
we used these whips to secure our jet skis and they are perfect, they replaced mooring poles which we didn't care for. we are on a busy part of a lake and the lines on the mooring poles just wore out from all the wave action, but the jet skis just ride the waves very nicely with the mooring whips.

As long as you have cleats on the Cat that are at least 3/4 the distance apart from the total lenghth, it should work fine.Answered on 7/5/2009 by Woogs56 from Blairsville, GAVERIFIED BUYER

They would work fine. I have a friend on the lake using these same whips on a 23 foot catamaran. He's used them the last two summers and never has had a problem. He also bolted them through his dock instead of using the wood screws they provided.Answered on 8/20/2009 by Ambassador of Brewing from Lake Cedar Creek, TX
Q:
How about this rig for docking a 22' pontoon boat?Asked on 4/1/2009 by Freddie the Farmboy from Lake Choctaw1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
I would at least recommend item 74608. The extra length will allow for the system to work properly, if not you will constantly adjusting the mooring whips due to wake/wind.Answered on 4/2/2009 by Matt from Gander Tech
