These whips have(so far) been a life saver for our boat.
We put the whips on the boat on Sunday and don't get back until Friday night and it has eased our worry about the boat hitting the dock and damaging it.
GREAT PRODUCT. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECCOMEND THEM TO ANYONE ON A LAKE.

We had a freak storm come through the lake and snapped the whips off at the base during the day while we were gone. $ 3,500 in boat damage and the answer from the manufacturer was to purchase new whips. The boat is 3500lbs and the whips were for 5000lbs. For the cost of repairs we could have purchased a lift (which we did after the fact). These may be OK if you are around during the day but don't count on them to protect your boat if the weather changes.

Comments about Dockmate Deluxe Mooring Whips, 12':
These whips are great!! They're easy to install and do a great job of keeping my boat away from my dock in rough water conditions. If you have a dock that is exposed to rough water, these whips are for you. Watch the video on Overton's web site then go do your installation it's that easy.

Comments about Dockmate Deluxe Mooring Whips, 12':
Assembly was delivered as advertised. Only mounting hardware included was for installation on a wooden dock. I had to buy some stainless steel hardware to install on my aluminum dock. included instructions were useful and installation was a snap. Even though their were earlier comments that indicated a lack of mooring lines, there were ample lines included for the whips, the bow and stern lines as well as the spring lines to tie up my 20' boat. I am happy so far with these whips.

Q:
How far apart are the whips installed on the dock?
Looks like one on the front cleat of the boat and one on the rear. So, on 21 foot boat, maybe 17-18 feet apart?
(I have a narrow dock)
Also, does this protect boat from waves hitting the side of the boat?Asked on 5/27/2012 by Jimmy from Athens, tx0 answers
Q:
We have a floating dock and a 24'Limestone ( 4700 lbs) coming soon. How far away from the dock do the whips hold the boat? If we get the larger 14' set of whips, is the boat further from the dock? It makes a difference due to distance from the channel. Thanks.Asked on 8/23/2011 by Big Swede from Cape Cod MA0 answers

Q:
I know the whips give a cushion to the side of the boat, but do they restrict front/back movement as well? I get motion in all four planes.Asked on 7/12/2009 by External Medicine from Baton Rouge, LA2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes, they help restrict fore/aft movement as well.Answered on 7/20/2009 by Ryan from OvertonsA:
The instructions will show you how to attach lines to the dock. You use a diagonal line from the back whip base to your boat's front side cleat and another diagonal from the front whip base to the rear side boat cleat. The combination of the whips and the diagonal lines prevent front to back motion of the boat.Answered on 7/20/2009 by wadeesay from Wakefield, NH

Q:
I have a 21 ft pontoon boat...what size whip do I need? Comes as a set of 2 (front/back)?Asked on 5/23/2009 by Anonymous1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes, these are sold in pairs. For a 21' pontoon boat you should be ok with item 74607 but you will need to check the weight of the boat and motor to make sure it is under 5,000 lbs.
Please remember that some docking conditions may be to rough for a whip type mooring system.Answered on 5/26/2009 by Michael from Overtons
