Developed in conjunction with the United States Marine Corps, the Danner men’s USMC RAT 8” Steel Toe Boot has the rugged, all-terrain durability of Danner’s USMC RAT 8” Hot Boot, but with added steel toe protection. Built with Danner’s handcrafted stitch-down construction, this boot offers the increased underfoot stability of a wider platform. Also, this featured construction makes the boot repairable in Danner's Portland factory, including such services as part replacement, restitching, and leather care.
With an advanced lug design for traction and pivoting, the Vibram 360° outsole with Dri Ice treatment remains flexible, even in extreme cold. The sole and heel are non-conductive electrical shock-resistant, making this boot electrical hazard (EH) footwear. A steel safety toe provides protection, and the polyurethane-coated leather over the toe and heel add enhanced durability. Designed specifically for boots with safety toes, the 516S last has a sleek and slender profile with a snug fit. This allows for terrain and activities demanding support and stability. However, with the narrower fit, it’s recommended to order wide (W, XW) if you have a wider foot. A durable, moisture-wicking lining with quick-draining medial vent holes offers breathability. Nubuck leather upper topped with breathable and tear-resistant 1000-Denier nylon upper. Eagle, Globe, and Anchor emblem and USMC certified. Speed-lace system. Fiberglass shank. This boot complies with the Berry Amendment, meaning all of its parts and the boot itself are made in the USA.
