Bought for daughter when she was about 8 years old. The gun is good for a young elementary age child to start learning on. However after minimal use the saftey is broke. The gun is also not very accurate, but you have to consider it is only 350fps. It will go through cans[...] if you aim right.

Comments about Daisy Outdoor Products Grizzly .177 Air Rifle:

We bought two of these at Christmas. One no longer holds air. I expected the bb to at least penetrate a plastic bottle at 10 yards, but it just bounces off.

    • Q:

Does this gun shoot the same ammunition as a airsoft gun? as in plastic bbs like 0.12g or 0.22g?
Asked on 1/9/2010 by airsoft819 from London ON

      2 answers

      • A:

Please: This is a .177 cal.(4.5 mm) single shot pellet or multi-load BB gun. Use only BBs (4.5 mm) or .177 cal. pellets. IT IS NOT A SOFT AIR GUN. It is capable of muzzle velocity of up to 350 fps. Please read your owners manual. If you need a new owner's manual, contact the manufacturer, they will probably send you a new one. Do not use plastic soft air ammo in this gun, it will jam. Please read and follow all safety rules enclosed with this gun. It is not a toy.

    • Q:

is this gun good for a 14 year old who wants to shoot chipmunks, squirrels, birds and maybe some rabbts? Also, is it a good gun to wound a larger animal like a dog or cat?
Asked on 1/1/2010 by bballler from Kenosha, WI

      1 answer

      • A:

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THIS IS MORE A TARGET SHOOTING GUN, AS I BELIVE IN THE CLEAN KILL WITH THE LEAST AMOUNT OF SUFFERING BY THE ANIMAL AND IN SAYING I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THIS GUN WOULD NOT BE SUITATIBLE FOR ANYTHING LARGER THAN MICE. NOT SAYING THAT TO PUT DOWN THE GUN BUT TO PROTECT [OUR] WILDLIFE. FOR INSTANCE YOU WOULDN'T SHOT AN ELEPHANT WITH .22 OR A 410. YOU GET THE PICTURE. A HIGHER POWER AIR RIFLE WOULD BE BETTER FOR HUNTING. AS FOR THE UNWANTED CATS AND DOGS A SHOT FROM A AIRSOFT GUN WHITCH SHOTS A PLASTIC BB WOULD BE A MORE HUMANE ANSWER WITH THE SAME RESULTS IN SCARING THEM OFF. REMEMBER ANIMALS WILL BE WHAT THEY ARE, BUT OFTEN THEY HAVE TO ANSWER FOR THEIR UNWORTHY OWNERS MISTAKES. HOPE THIS HELPED YOU....HAPPY....SAFE....SHOOTING....SKI

However, I own a number of chronographs, using Copperhead .177 BB's We consistently got readings of 387fps making no modification whatsoever.
