While challenging the misconception that semi-autos could not be accurate, the LR-308 remains on of the most popular target rifles, routinely shooting amazingly accurate groups and taking some of North America's largest game animals. This 18" version offers much of the same accuracy of the LR-308, but in a configuration that's 2lbs. lighter, making it a nice blend of benchrest and hunting rifle. The LR-308B has a button-rifled bull barrel made of 4140 chrome-moly steel, with 6 grooves and a 1 in 10" twist. The rifle is built around a gas-operated rotating bolt with an 8620 steel bolt carrier. The upper receiver is thick-walled, extruded from 6066-T6 aluminum and featuring a snag-free design, a smooth side look, and a raised picatinny rail for easy scope mounting. The lower receiver is milled from a solid billet of 6061-T6 aluminum and features an integral trigger guard, an aluminum magazine release button, and a standard AR-15 trigger group. The stock is a standard A2 black Zytel Mil-spec with a trap door assembly and the handguards are ribbed, carbine-length free float tube. 19-round magazine included.
