I did not have a clue which would fit my motor.
I first took a rope around my motor cowling at the
widest spot. Measuring this length it come out to
be 85". Considering the cover specs to be 30" DP
by 17" W, I figured each side to be 30" DP and
each width to be 17" W. So, 30+30+17+17 = 94"
total circumference. With my Motor being 85" it
looked OK. On receiving the cover I found the
actual size measurement to be 89", but, would
still fit. And actually fit quite well and easy
on.
My Motor is a 2008 90HP Merc Four Stroke. So, this
cover should fit 75, 90, and 115HP Merc Four
motors.
Trying this approach might give you a better idea
on which will work for you. In my case though, the
opening area of my cover would have been closer to
29"DP+29"DP+16"W+16"W = 90"

Comments about Covermate Outboard Motor Cover, 30"D x 17"W x 35"H:
This product is a bit large for my 90 H.P. Merc. 4Stroke, but the recommended cover is way too small.

Comments about Covermate Outboard Motor Cover, 30"D x 17"W x 35"H:
We covered our outdoor 90hp yamaha motor FOR LESS THAN A YEAR and the string to keep the cover tight for protection has TOTALLY DISITEGRATED...making the cover USELESS because it will not stay ON on a windy day!!!!!!! We had liked the design and easy to put on SOO I bought to more a couple months later to cover our front captains chairs BUT NOW I AM JUST WAITING for the strings to DISITEGRATE on THOSE TOO :((

Comments about Covermate Outboard Motor Cover, 30"D x 17"W x 35"H:
Overton's claims this cover fits 130-200 HP 4 stroke motors. I have a 200 HP Johnson 4 stoke and I just about need a fabric stretcher to get the cover over the motor. Quality seems fine - simply the wrong size.

Comments about Covermate Outboard Motor Cover, 30"D x 17"W x 35"H:
Good construction with durable material. The draw string is a bit flimsy, but it fits well enough that it is not necessary. Definitely measure your engine to get the correct size. Do not rely on the horsepower guidelines to get the correct size for your engine.

A:
We actually do not have a reference chart to determine which engines go with each cover, you would have to measure your engine and compare it to the provided dimensions.Answered on 10/9/2009 by Bryant C from Tech DepartmentVERIFIED BUYER

You need number 70924 from overtons. It was big for my 90hp 4 stroke but I wanted it to cover the whole power head.Answered on 6/13/2012 by Goofeyfitter from Oswego, NY

You would have to take the measurements of your O/B motor and compare them to the ones we have provided.Answered on 9/24/2009 by Bryant C from Tech DepartmentCUSTOMER CARE
A:
Overton's has no way to tell you the answer to that. We wish that we could list them differently, like by the make model and year of the engine, but there is nothing available to us that would allow us to list these in that fashion. Unfortunately you will have to measure your outboard motorhead and tell us which one will fit your dimensions the best.Answered on 9/28/2009 by JUSTIN from OVERTON'S TECHNICIAN
