Product Description
Colt M4 Carbine is a versatile weapon system with proven combat utility and performance providing the operator with the confidence required to accomplish any mission. Featuring a 14.5-inch barrel, it is designed for use wherever lightness, speed of action, mobility and fire power are required. The M4 Carbine features a redesigned 4-position sliding buttstock allowing it to adapt to soldiers of different sizes and physical characteristics as well as various firing positions or clothing variations. The unique direct gas operating system eliminates the conventional operating rod normally associated with gas operating weapons. Straight-line construction disperses recoil straight back to the shoulder, increasing handling capabilities, especially during auto fire while the muzzle compensator further reduces muzzle climb, and helps eliminate flash and dust signatures. Almost all mechanical components are interchangeable with those of the M16 rifle, ensuring quality, commonality of parts and reduced maintenance costs. The M4's target-style rear sight features dual apertures and adjusts for both windage and elevation. Other features include upper and lower metal receivers, a removable carry handle, a functioning dust cover, a cartridge case defector for left-handed shooters, and a bolt catch designed to hold the bolt open when the mag empties. A 30-round magazine is included.

Nice weapon for home protection and fun to hunt small game with. The M4 22LR is also a blast on the range, no pun intended. Can't go wrong with this one guys.

Comments about Colt M4 Carbine Rimfire Rifle:

I use it for hunting and at the rang. I like the M4 it is light and work's just like the big one. I like the cost of the ammo and being a .22 is fun to shoot. The only thing rong with my M4 is the ammo I feed it.

Comments about Colt M4 Carbine Rimfire Rifle:

I had a lot of experience with the M16 cousin, so this one was an obvious choice for me. I use it mainly for personal security and small game hunting to feed myself on the go, and keep it available for personal protection in my apartment.

This is not a beginner's weapon, it does require a bit of practice to get the hang of how the round behaves when fired at various ranges. The shorter barrel than the AR15/M16 limits accuracy to short ranges, long range is out (anything over 300 meters). It's great for small game, since it doesn't obliterate your meal. Larger game is possible, but big game is out (it is, after all, a .22).

Anyone with experience with this weapon, or the AR15/M16, will tell you this one isn't particularly reliable in dirty or damp environments if you don't seal everything up in between firing. Most of us who are ex-military know the solution to this, as does anyone who has seen military flicks where this weapon's quirks are discussed (not sure if I can say here).

Despite having to keep this weapon as clean as possible, it is relatively easy to clean and maintain with a little practice. But, you do have to clean it often, even if storing, to prevent bolt and rounds jamming at a critical time. Dust and fine silt in water are hardest to deal with, since they are the hardest to spot, and all to common in outdoor tactical and recreational environments.

If you are looking for a lightweight weapon that won't rip your shoulder off when firing, and won't go through a bad guy and hit an unintended target, and you don't mind the extra time it takes to baby it, the M4 is perfect for most needs.
