Comments about The Clam Chair® Ice-Fishing Seat:
Do not buy this product thinking you will get years of use out of it. This chair was used four times and one of the straps has torn off and one of the poles is sticking through the fabric on the top. The chair had two rods and a small tackle box so weight wasn't an issue. Just poor quality in the design. Good concept from Clam, but they need to work on durability.

Comments about The Clam Chair® Ice-Fishing Seat:
I'm able to get all my tipups, poles, and gear in this chair with room for the warmer uppers!
There's plenty of room on the chair for everything, and the thing I like the most is that if i'm with someone that has already got the auger and the minnows, I can throw all my stuff over my shoulder and go.
The chair itself isn't the most comfortable thing in the world, but it's easy to jump from one hole to the next with everything you need. If you need to pull a sled you don't have to worry about your bucket dumping over with all your stuff ending up in the bottom, and spending precious fishing time sorting through it all.

Comments about The Clam Chair® Ice-Fishing Seat:
try it at store first.
our store did not have a demo, so i bought it to check it out.
it's going back today.
cons:
main issues are it's too wide to be used as a backpack as described, also the backrest makes you lean forwaordtoo much. the weight feels much more than 12lbs as indicated. the moving parts of the chair itself [hinges]are just a long rivet type connection, not a bolt [somewhat cheap design like most camp chairs use].
the bottom seat cushion is very thin [1" or less] and seat makes a lot of noise when sitting in it [fabric stressing maybe over the painted metal seat support. i'm 210lbs.
the bottom fish/trash bag is only thin nylon and i think it should be lined cordora or of better fabric[s] also.
pros:
i do like the backrest storage system alot.
lots of space and good protection of complete rod/reels go into the backrest thru bottom of backrest.
recommend they redesign it to use aluminum [i'd pay more] and better hardware [replaceable bolts/washers] and better backrest angle and move backpack straps in closer. thicker fabric for fish bag so it's water tight. also, the backpack when full would be heavier yet, so maybe the shoulder straps should be cushioned and add a cross strap to close them together in front of wearer like most backpacks do.
