Comments about CCI® Specialty CB, 22 Short:
I have a small carnival type shooting gallery. The plates and catches are able to handle well beyond .22 LR, but I find it far more fun to shoot without the need for earplugs. This ammunition has never misfired in well over a thousand rounds, and is almost completely silent in most locked breech .22 rifles. Doesn't cycle well from a box magazine, but there has to be some cost for silence. Don't expect quiet shooting from pistols, or carbines, and pay attention to the label when it tells you that it will not cycle an automatic. Far more economical than a suppressor, and lots of fun, especially in an old Winchester gallery pump! As for hunting in places we shouldn't, I'd still treat this ammunition like any other .22, and not shoot it in any heavily populated areas without a completely enclosed lane with a good bullet catch, as it is still capable of killing.

Q:
does it work in .22 LR rifles?Asked on 11/19/2009 by cool kid from belvidere,IL1 answer
A:
This ammunition will work in any .22 LR chamber. It will NOT cycle an automatic, and it will have some report if used in a short barrel, or one with a loose bore. It is best used as plinking ammo, and not for hunting, as it just doesn't seem to have the oomph needed. I took some out to the woods once, and knocked several squirrels out of the trees with it, all of whom got right back up, and scrambled back up the tree. If your rifle is marked as ".22 S,L,or LR" you are just fine, if it's marked ".22 LR only", you will likely have feeding issues, but it shouldn't hurt your gun to fire this ammunition.Answered on 1/4/2010 by Indoor Shooter from Southern Wisconsin
