This little lite weight filly can kick as hard as her big brothers. After about 700 rounds I've had no FTE's or any other issues. Plus, you can run with it like it isn't there. Don't be afraid of the carbon, it doesn't build up burrs due to sand and dirt. It's pretty much self lubricating and needs no maintenance. That does not mean you don't clean. One caution: I would not suggest free floating because.. (1) The barrel nut is not standard threads. (2)If you can hit a paper plate at 500 meters with this weapon like I have, why would you want to ?? I'm holding 2" groups at 200 with it. Buy it, shoot it, clean it and have some fun. Hope this helps. - Semper Fi

Bought it a month ago and left it in the safe for a couple weeks due to work schedule and last week i mount the red dot and notice there was a loose piece in side the AR. Took it apart and the buffer retainer was making the nose and the spring where under the hammer. The buffer tube wasn't place far enough to hold the retainer. After that i took it to the range and fire 100 5.56 round and work fine. The AR wasn't defective. I just got one of those AR that was made on a Friday night.

Comments about Bushmaster® Carbon 15 with Bushnell Red Dot Sight Centerfire Rifle:

I bought this rifle on the 1st of Jan. 2014 and I had to send it back to Bushmaster because I could not draw the charging handle back with a loaded mag in the mag well. Bushmaster replaced the upper with what they called the "New Style Upper" and so far I have put well over five hundred round through it and I have had no problems from the rifle. I did however replace the cheap red dot with a Nikon P-223 3x32 Carbine scope with the Nikon P Series mounts.

      • Q:

Is this firearm chambered for the 5.56 or .223? I know that either one can be fired, but because of the higher case pressures of the 5.56, it is not safe to fire them in a gun originally chambered for the .223.

I have had a hard time sighting this gun. Lightweight barrel throws bullets everwhere after a few shots. Am I the only one with this problem?
Asked on 6/18/2012 by Anonymous from McAllen, Texas

        1 answer

        • A:

Provided you are using the same ammo manufacturer, bullet type and grain each time. Take it to a gun range and shoot from a bench. Start at 100 yds and fire three rounds quickly with the same hold. Also be sure you are not jerking the trigger.
If you can not get a 2 inch group at 100 yds consult with a
          pro gunsmith.

      • Q:

is this gun also suited to shoot 5.56mm NATO in addition to .223 Remington?
        Asked on 6/10/2012 by Anonymous

        1 answer

        • A:

Yes, you may use either. I would choose one type and grain
and stick with it for accuracy.

Check with your local hunting laws. Some areas only allow certain ammo to hunt certain game as well as magazine size

Answered on 12/5/2012 by mike from ny
        • A:

Yes with a decent shot and heavier grain. Head, spine, heart lung

        • A:

Yes if you are a good shot, however, the more important question would be is it legal in the state you live to hunt deer with .223/5.56?

Answered on 12/28/2012 by Chris from Lorton, VA
        • A:

Probably, check your state big game requirements
