Product Description
burris Just when you thought it couldn't get any better than the TAC30, Burris brings added innovation with the Burris MTAC Riflescope. The MTAC is designed to stand up to the hard use of tactical shooters. This scope features a superior light gathering glass than the TAC30. These high quality lenses with hilume multi-coatings provide a crisp, clear picture from dusk to dawn. Another major improvement in the MTAC is the independently moving power ring, separate from the ocular bell. This improvement lets the shooter adjust the power range without any visual interruption. Double-spring tension and an oversized ball-joint secure the hand-fitted internal zoom-assembly. The main tube is constructed of aircraft grade 6061t6 aluminum. Each scope is purged with laboratory-grade nitrogen to eliminate internal moisture and sealed with Burris-exclusive quad seals. The adjustment system is positive and repeatable with audible clicks ensuring unfailing shot-to-shot accuracy in all environments. Another key feature is the Ballistic Plex CQ reticle which allows for rapid engagement of close quarters targets while also providing holdover points out to 600 yards when shooting a 62 grain 5.56x45mm load.

The Burris Unconditional Forever Warranty covers their entire product line, including glass, coatings, electronics, scope tubes, and everything in between. Quality optics and customer service the way it should be-no questions and no excuses.

I purchased this scope a couple of weeks ago for an upcoming hunt. I was looking for a scope that was not too heavy, had some sort of focus adjustment, and had capped tall turrets. The ballistic mil reticle wasn't a requirement, but I am glad it is part of the package and will be nice for windage hold off.. The scope is atop my lightweight .300 Win Mag. After two trips to the range, I am very happy with the performance of the optic. The glass is clear and provides sharp detail. I would put the glass quality at the upper end for its price point. It passed the box test without issue. Dialing is easy and the turret clicks are not too loud, but audible, and are easy to feel as you rotate the turret. The turrets have a solid feel with no wobble or squishyness as you rotate them. My only complaint on the turrets is the caps. The thread is unusually long for a cap, and it takes quite a few turns to get the cap off. Kind of a minor thing, but that is a few extra seconds while my animal of a lifetime walks off. The AO is solid and is stiff to turn. Not too stiff that I can't adjust it and stay on target, but stiff enough that it won't rotate while I pack the rifle and it gets jostled around. The power ring is likewise stiff, but not too stiff. Both are smooth to operate, and feel very solid. Overall, this is a nice package that offers a lot for an all around scope. Could it be improved? It would be awesome if it had a zero stop on the elevation turret. Otherwise, it is a solid scope. Time will tell about durability, but my initial impression is that it is built very solidly so that isn't something I am concerned with.

While this scope is accurate and appropriate for the 458 SOCOM I mounted it on, I find the center reticle dot to be too large. At 100 yards I can center it on a target for sighting it in but the idea that you could hold any accuracy based on a dot that obscures a 10 inch circle at 300 yard is ridiculous...much less any farther out. I also find the red light is intermittent at certain detente points making it necessary to carefully select the position. I could send it back for repair??? to make the lighting issue go away but it's a lot of hassle

Great tacticle scope

Comments about Burris MTAC 1-4x24 Tactical Scope, 1-4x24, Ill. Ball. Ret. w/ Fast Fire II Mount:

Just shot it yesterday and was very happy. Very clear and bright. Easy to zero. It is not a precision reticle, and not intended to be. I personally like the reticle. Got it with the Burris PEPR quick disconnect mount. Great set up!

Great choice for 3 gun

By Hotrod

from Denham Springs, LA, United States

Comments about Burris MTAC 1-4x24 Tactical Scope, 1-4x24, Ill. Ball. Ret. w/ Fast Fire II Mount:

I have been using the Tac-30 for about 6 months, this is a wonderful piece of equipment! Targets at 50 yards or less on 1 power works just like a red dot with both eyes open, I have reached out to 300 yards in a competition and experienced a 1 shot hit several times. I have never fired it with the reticle illuminated, it is black normally and is very easy to see in the daytime, I am sure that in a low light situation, the illuminated reticle would be awesome. My only complaint is I would have preferred a little more magnification, maybe 1-6, but definatly not a deal breaker! I would definatly recommend this product! Phillip

makes the M4 come alive

By cjklein67

from Carlton, OR, United States

Comments about Burris MTAC 1-4x24 Tactical Scope, 1-4x24, Ill. Ball. Ret. w/ Fast Fire II Mount:

The M4 with iron sights works but target acquisition is slow and tedious. It wasn't a fun gun to shoot... I chose the Burris because I have dreams of shooting 3-gun soon, but it made the M4 a pleasure. The single power makes target acquisition a snap with both eyes open and the 4X power is plenty (even at 200 yards) to easily get your group on the plate quickly... The glass is clear and crisp. The lit reticle is little thick at long distances but not annoyingly so... I never short over 200 yards. I would recommend this scope to anyone who likes quick target acquisition. One thing that would be nice would be to have lens covers come with the scope, the other thing that seems cumbersome is the battery replacement... had to get it centered just right to make contact... not a field operation.
