Selected as Field & Stream's 2001 handgun of the year, the 1911-22 combines John Browning's original design with a package designed for fire .22 Long Rifle rounds. After extensive testing and research, Browning determined 85% of the original size was ideal for the smaller .22 LR cartridge. The grip is comfortable even in large hands and feels equally at home in smaller ones. The lightweight alloy construction is anything but light duty. The 1911-A1 has a straight blowback design that offers enhanced simplicity and reliability. The frame is machined from aircraft-grade aluminum to exacting tolerances and the slide has vertical serrations to provide an improved cocking grip. The convenient manual slide release is easily operated with the shooting or support hand and the magazine release is positioned adjacent to the trigger guard for convenient operation. This pistol features fixed iron sights, a beavertail grip safety, checkered wooden grips, and a 10-round magazine. Its wood, metal, and bore are all in very good condition.
