Comments about Bond Arms Texas Defender Handgun:

This is an awesome gun. I've read a lot of reviews and all I can say is, I'm super glad I bought it. I fired 100 .45 Colt rounds through this gun between two trips to the range and had no problem getting scary accurate at 25 ft. You have to give yourself some time with the gun and be aware of which barrel you are firing and accuracy will come quickly unless your half blind and dumb! There's a bit more kick than my Glock 19, but why wouldn't you expect that?! I fly fish in bear country and I feel very confident with this gun in my vest. Did I mention it's built like a tank? And, you can buy other barrels and accessories for it? My only minus item is that it's a bit more work to clean. But, again, I would expect that with this firearm.

Comments about Bond Arms Texas Defender Handgun:

I now have the Texas Defender and Cowboy Defender frames plus several barrels: 22LR, 38sp/357M, and the 45/410 in 3.5 and 4.5. Even the manufacturer says that the recommended ammo is 410shot, such as the Winchester PDX that the Taurus Judge uses. You CAN fire 45LC slugs, but that is very punishing since the recoil is outlandish with this all steel gun with hardwood grips. I really disliked the 357M as well. The Ruger SP101 does fine with such ammo, but if you must fire slugs the 38 special is as large I can recommend with the tiny grip. The 22LR is crazy accurate though. Note that all of these barrels have identical exterior dimensions so therefore the 22LR barrel is the 45LC barrel with incredibly thick barrel walls. All of this extra weight completely handles the tiny recoil of the 22LR and the iron sights are actually useful. I'm neither dumb nor blind, but unless the 45Colt is really light cowboy ammo, this tiny barrel is NOT crazy accurate. Even at 15 feet the 45LC is tumbling and that makes a 25ft chest sized target very iffy. Overall, I like these guns because they can hide completely in a front pocket holster. I won't fire the 45LC, 240gr again in the 4.5" snakeslayer barrel until I get a larger grip. That means no more pocket carry for that one though, but I won't send anything down range unless I know at least approximately where it will land.
