I live in Florida and have a problem with mildew forming on the vinyl seats in my pontoon. This gives great ventilation to not only ventilate the extreme heat, but to ventilate the moisture that accumilates under the cover in such a humid area.

I installed three of these in fifteen minutes. They are strong, work better then snaps, and keep my boat dryer.

I have a 19.5 boat should I use 2 or 3 of te vents and what location for installation.

                  A:

I think 2 would be sufficient for a boat that size. If you have a V-hull open bow boat then I would place one center beam close to the walk-through windshield and place the other one just in front of the engine compartment. The goal is to distribute the ventilation but to also place them so the support poles (sold separately) lift the cover enough to provide adequate run-off so rain water and debris does not collect on the cover and run into the vents. I would test fit the location using just the support poles before I cut the holes in the cover for the vents.

              • Q:

Can this vent be used if the cover will be used during trailoring? i.e. will it withstand winds of 70mph+ at highway speeds?

                  A:

That is not a good idea. You should remove it and the pole before trailering.

Does cutting the hole/installing this void the warranty on the boat cover?

On most boat cover, yes it does void the the warranty to put a vent in.

              • Q:

Does this vent fit on the cover or the boat itself? Do you need multiple vents to be effective

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

The vent installs in the cover and if you have over say a 15-17 foot boat, you would probably want to go with two.
