Product Description
The most vulnerable part of your lower unit is the skeg. It often ends up damaged, requiring repair or replacement. Now, the revolutionary Blackfin provides a breakthrough in skeg protection, repair, or replacement. Blackfin is made of a rugged, nylon composite, and it's easily installed, saving the time and expense of a trip to the marine shop. Unlike typical skegs, Blackfin offers performance enhancing features that provide better handling, quicker plane times, and more steering control. Comes with all you need for a do-it-yourself application, including special marine adhesive and complete instruction. Sizes are determined by your lower unit gear housing measurement: S (10-1/2" to 12-1/2"), M (13-1/2" to 14-1/2"), L (15-1/2" and larger). Exception: Mercruiser Alpha One measures medium but requires small instead.

I HAVEN'T INSTALLED YET, AS 'DRY FIT' SEEMS QUITE LOOSE & I'M CONCERNED ONCE I GLUE IT UO, IT MAY BE DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN PROPER CENTER LINE POSITIONING. I FEEL THE BLACKFIN SKEG COVER SHOULD BE A MORE SNUG FIT EVEN WHEN DRY FITTING TO MAINTAIN ACCURATE CENTERLINE POSITIONING. I AM CONSIDERING RETURNINNG THIS PRODUCT FOR A STAINLESS ONE WITH MOUNTING SCREWSS TO MAINTAIN A HIGHER DEGREE OF CENTERLINE ACCURACY.

        Comments about Blackfin Skeg:

The Blackfin Skeg protector is an outstanding product; I've had one on every boat I've owned because if installed correctly this one small item can and will save U a lot of money.
I hit a submerged floater on the lake a couple of months back and the entire skeg was broken off my lower unit BUT the Blackfin was still intact!!!! if that wasn't enough to convince me I was told by a person with an insurance company that without having had the Blackfin installed I would/could have totalled the motor!! Love my Blackfin and will have one on any boat I own from now on.

            Comments about Blackfin Skeg:

I installed the Blackfin in less than a half an hour. I had torn off more than 3 inches of my skeg and had to use the entire tube of sealant to fill the bottom of the repair skeg. Our season is over for boating but I am anxiously awaiting trying out this great looking product!

It was easy to install. I keep my boat in fresh water during the season and I was checking it and it was peeling off. I now have to replace it with a SS version.

                    Comments about Blackfin Skeg:

Other products need to be screwed on the broken skeg. I feel this would be too ridgid, and if hit bottom again might break skeg off too high.
This product comes with great adhesive, and is strong rubber that will give. At worst it can be removed and replaced, and will not break off skeg. I love it! A perfect repair for my broken skeg.
