This is my first pocket gun. I also own a 1911 and a PX4 compact 9mm. The only direct competitors for the Nano are the Kahr CM9 and Kel-Tec PF9. For the price and quality, I am very happy with the Nano. It is sturdy and *very* comfortable to shoot, even with a 2 finger grip.

There are no external controls, so the gun is slim and low-drag. You need an empty mag to lock back the slide, which could be an inconvenience, but not a deal-breaker.

I have had the gun for a week and shot 120 rounds so far, and I'm very pleased. I've had no problems so far, but it is too soon to tell. I won't be able to make a judgement before I perform my own 1000 round break-in.

The gun requires something to manipulate the breakdown cam. I use a penny, but the rim of a 9mm shell will work as well. This is to smooth the profile of the gun, and I have had no issues with it.

Also, there is talk of the striker de-cocking button to render the gun safe for cleaning without having to pull the trigger. This button wants a pen to press it, and I can't see how it could be triggered by mistake. I think a shock hard enough to deactivate the striker would probably break something on the gun. It can be useful if you don't feel like dry-firing your gun to field strip, but it is not necessary and can be easily ignored.

Overall, I am happy I managed to get mine before the rush. My only problem now is finding a suitable pocket holster, as the front of the trigger guard creates an irregular shape that doesn't seem to fit in any of the current line of shaped holsters. They are out there, just not many on store shelves. I know I will find something soon enough.

Final word, if you don't already own a CM9, LC9, PM9 or LC9, this gun would be a worthy competitor in the pocket 9 category. The only thing better would be a single-stack Glock.

I purchased this gun about a year ago and have had nothing but issues with it. After 300 rounds now I have had several FTE's which can be difficult to extract. Both front and rear sights have fallen off while shooting. The rear sight had a partially stripped out screw head from the factory. I only received two six round mags instead of the six and eight it was supposed to come with (and Berretta says it came with), and I had to pay for the conversion kit for the eight round mag and put it together. As for shooting it is not pleasant. I had to get a talon grip so I could get a good purchase on the gun. Standing, the grouping of my shots is about 2 feet at 7 yards as compared to my little .357 which gets about a 4 inch group at seven yards.
When rested it can pull out 8 inch groups but they are 4 inches low.
In the end I would not trust my life to this gun. You would be better off throwing it at your assailant, it would probably be more accurate and do more damage.

Comments about Beretta BU9 Nano Handgun:

The Nano is (at least for me) a great concealed carry weapon. It is the perfect size for easy concealment yet it is easy to shoot well. I find this pistol to be built as solidly as a bank vault, very accurate and so far 100% reliable after shooting different types, weights and brands of ammo. The firing system smooth's with use, It just gets better and better. I trust it with my life and carry it everyday. I expect nothing less from the worlds oldest firearms maker. Having said that, The Nano was designed and is built right here in the USA. Thanks Beretta USA.

Comments about Beretta BU9 Nano Handgun:

Very easy to conceal and had no problems shooting accurately. Less recoil than expected and also very reliable. Only downside is that I had to purchase an 8 round magazine obviously for extra ammo but also to provide better grip.

Comments about Beretta BU9 Nano Handgun:

I purchased my Nano primarily for conceal carry and home protection. It is perfect for both applications. I wear it concealed inside my belt in a holster and often forget it is there, even when driving. Took it to an indoor range and the accuracy was very good starting with the first clip. 5 inch groups at 20 feet. The somewhat long trigger pull is not a problem and a nice feature from a safety standpoint. Take down for cleaning is simple. Overall, I am entirely satisfied with my Nano and will let my wife shoot it the range next time. Recoil is not a problem.
