Product Description
beretta The 92 series of semiautomatic pistols operates on a short recoil, delayed blowback system, which yields faster cycle times, exceptional accuracy, and greater reliability. The double/single action design is safe and time-proven. The open top slide virtually eliminates jamming and stove piping and allows the user to load and chamber one cartridge at a time should the magazine be lost or damaged. The high-capacity steel magazines are durable and drop-free when the magazine button is depressed, even when empty. Chrome-lined barrels provide extreme corrosion resistance, as well as ease of cleaning and also feature a deeply recessed combat muzzle crown to protect the rifling. Visible automatic firing pin block. Reversible magazine release.

Awesome Awesome AWESOME!!!
I finally ponied up the money for this gun. As 9mm's go it's fairly expensive. Is it worth it? Yes, every last penny! There is not one thing I don't like about this gun. I love the alloy frame, the size is perfect and the weight is good too in my opinion. In addition, it's well balanced and it feels really good in the hand. For me it's perfect.
Likes: The size (I don't care for compact guns), magazine capacity (2 15 rounders come with it, 18's are available), the safety features (hammer block, firing pin lock, DA first pull), and most important, the whole feel of the gun. There is no slop, there is no stiffness, and there are no parts that feel like they might break if you aren't gentle with them. The other key selling point for me is the DA/SA feature. This alone makes this gun stand out from almost all of the other 9mm and was a main reason for choosing it. It's very slick, the first pull is a full, hard Double Action trigger pull. You won't squeeze a shot off by accident in this mode. After that, each shot is a smooth a gentle short trigger pull in Single Action mode as the gun arms the hammer and chambers the next cartridge. Now the sweet part, want SA on the first pull? Just arm the hammer first (try to do that with a hammerless gun). Want to go back to DA after firing? Just release the hammer with the safety, when you take the safety back off the first shot will be DA again. Have a mis-fire? The DA kicks in, just pull the trigger again and the gun will arm and release the hammer a second time on the same round. It all works very sweet and is probably the most outstanding feature on this gun. And lastly ... this is one very cool looking gun! No wonder it's the hero's choice in movies like Lethal Weapon and Die Hard.
Dislikes: Absolutely none! No wonder this gun places consistently in the 2nd spot of Peoples Choice Best Nines. And for shooting shooting, it shoots straight and true with really nice recoil. Funnest gun I've shot by far with nice tight groupings. No regrets with this gun!

I own one of these and it is very accurate and reliable. However, if I did it all over again I would by one with a light rail on it to make it suitable for defense. I love the trigger and availability of accessories. You could get a lot more options by buying an XD. Regardless of your choice, the best handgun is one that fits your hand. If not, you will be at a disadvantage.

My 92FS is perhaps the best made and most comfortable weapon with such a strong emphasis on safety devices that are extremely easy to operate that I could own.

A fine tribute to the legacy of Beretta and a proud to own gun for my enjoyment & safety.
      Bravo Beretta!!!

Comments about Beretta 92FS 9MM Blued Finish:

My wife and I bought the 92FS 3 months ago and have already put close to 500 rounds through it. Never had a ftf/fte and I'm using every kind of 9mm ammo I can find. I also own the CX4 Storm and have interchanged magazines from a 10rd to 30rd in each. You should see the looks I get at the range when I use the 30rd magazine. I also put on a set of Hogue grips with finger grooves. That helped even more with the way the gun feels in your hand and also with the recoil. Next upgrade will be a steel guide rod (the polymer guide rod works great, but on a gun of this quality I feel it should have been made of steel). I own a S&W M&P9 and a S&W model 19 and this is still the most fun to shoot.
If your only going to buy 1 handgun buy this one.

You may be able to buy the M9 from a surplus store. Gander Mountain may sell them used, but you should call a store to be certian. The 92FS has upgraded slide, sights, guide rod, and finish as compared to the M9.

            Asked on 3/15/2010 by Dave

            1 answer

            • A:

Dave, the 92FS has a fixed rear site that is, I believe, sited at 25 yards with ball ammo (FMJ). The gun is "accurate out of the box" according to Beretta, and experience seems to verify this claim. There are adjustable sites that you can purchase from Beretta if you want to modify.

            • A:

it is the 92fs based on the sku # and its appearance :
Based on the 92 Brigadier FS model and equipped with the same heavier and re-contoured slide, the 92 is a single/double-action model 4.9" (125 mm) barrel with accurizing bushing for maximum shot precision. The bushing is replaceable for wear and perfectly blocks the barrel on the slide during firing. The front and rear slide serrations enable easier slide racking during manual operation. The frame-mounted ambidextrous manual safety makes the firearm combat-ready, hammer-armed and with the safety on.
