Comments about Benchmade® 707 Sequel® Plain Edge Folding Knife:

I am an avid folding knife collector. I also carry at least two knives at all times. This Sequel is one special knife. Plain and simple. it is a high end quality folder and with the axis lock and blade size for a small carry it really is hard to beat.

Comments about Benchmade® 707 Sequel® Plain Edge Folding Knife:

The 707 sequel is a folder that has a lot of great qualities, but it is lacking in some areas too. The almost 1:1 handle to blade ratio does not allow for a great purchase on the handle. It has adequate gimping, and I don't think it would slip out of the hand very easily, but it feels a little awkward in the hand. Feel and ergonomics are very important in an EDC role. Conversely, the size can actually be a plus too. It's relatively thin and doesn't take up too much real estate in the pocket. The G10 inserts are virtually useless. They do not provide anything more than aesthetics. In terms of aesthetics, I think it's a very handsome folder. It's on the fence between a user and dressy folder.

In terms of performance the 707 sequel is average. The Axis Lock is nice and Benchmade does a great job making a strong lock that is easily operated in one hand. There is enough blade there to get moderate cutting tasks done. The pocket clip is reversible, strong, but it could ride a little lower. The thumb stud throws the blade out plenty fast, and is easy to access. Aluminum scales with steel inserts makes this folder feel very refined and sturdy.

Overall, I am giving this knife 3 out of 5 stars. Its negatives do not weigh its positives and vice versa. I was expecting more and maybe that was my problem. It a fine folder, but in total it is a slightly more refined Mini Griptilian. I like having it in my collection, and I take it out with me sometimes, but after the honeymoon period with this folder was over, I saw it for what it is… an average little folder.
